jongki - drive me crazy, 1044w [2/2]

"Is something wrong?" Hongki finally asks Jonghun.

They're overseas for a concert, and the two of them are sharing a room like they always do when they're not in Korea.

"I'm just thinking about tomorrow's performance," Jonghun answers.

Hongki frowns. "It's not right now I'm talking about," he says. "It's... in general."

There's a pause, a somewhat pregnant silence, and Hongki almost lets out a sigh of relief because maybe not all of it was just in his head after all. But—

"What are you saying?" Jonghun asks.

"Never mind," Hongki mutters, switching off the night lamp. "Good night."

And then it's dark in the room, the only light coming from the moon peeking through the window. There's only silence, and after a few minutes, Hongki thinks that Jonghun is probably sleeping already, which, for some reason really annoys him. Luckily, their twin beds are close enough that if Hongki moves close to the edge and angles himself right, he can probably reach Jonghun and poke him with his feet.

Unfortunately, what Hongki wants to give Jonghun is not a simple poke, but a hard kick, and when he attempts this, he topples off his bed, and falls with a loud thud on the floor. He hears the lamp switch click, and then there's light again, and Jonghun is laughing at him.

"What happened?" Jonghun asks, barely understandable, what with the accompanying snorts and uncontrollable laughter.

Hongki glares at him, and then he retaliates the only way he knows how— he pounces on Jonghun, tackling him, and somehow maneuvering them into a position where he had Jonghun caught in a headlock. Jonghun is still laughing though, so Hongki presses his knee against Jonghun's back.

"Stop!" Jonghun shrieks, still shaking from the laughter that he's trying to contain.

"Stop laughing first!" Hongki demands, but he's starting to laugh as well.

"I'll try! I'll try!" Jonghun exclaims.

And then Hongki couldn't help himself either, finally loosening his hold on Jonghun as he bursts into a fit of laughter.

"You scream like a girl," he tells Jonghun, shoving him to one side of the bed, still giggling a little as he gathers Jonghun's cover sheets, pulling them over him as he lies down on the bed.

"Whatever," Jonghun says, tugging at the sheets back, falling back on the bed as well.

They're lying side by side, squished together on a single bed, and for a minute, there is only the sound of their breathing as they try to regain air.

"I miss this," Jonghun says, breaking the quiet.

"Miss what?" Hongki asks.

"Us," Jonghun answers. "Just us like this."

Hongki snorts and playfully elbows him lightly. "You sound fucking cheesy."

Jonghun shrugs, all seriousness, with suddenly no trace of humor at all. Hongki turns his head to look at Jonghun's profile.

"But I guess I do too," Hongki mumbles before turning to look the other way and quickly switching the light off again.

"Let's go on a ski trip together this winter," Jonghun says.

Hongki suddenly remembers, one of the tweets he'd wanted to reply to previously was Jonghun wondering about a winter ski trip. He was going to say "of course, you idiot," but then it had disappeared, so Hongki just forgot about it, or at least he tried not to think about it.

"Of course, you idiot," Hongki says, trying to suppress a smile.

At least he gets to say the words out loud now.
