"Oh God, I'm gay."

That was the first thing Kim Jonghyun says in the morning over the phone to his best friend, Key.

Key fell off his bed once he got the call from Jonghyun. "YOU'RE WHAT?!" he shrieked.

"I'm physically and emotionally attracted to Minho."

"You mean Choi Minho, captain of the soccer team at our university?" Key sighed and got up from the floor. "Dude, you know he's like super straight. How did this happen?"

Jonghyun sighed and hit his head on his bedroom headboard. "I don't know. I guess it's the dreams and the butterflies I get thinking about him even when he's not around."

Key pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes shut. "Before you talk like a schoolgirl who has a crush on the popular boy, I'd like to point out that you'd have to tell your family first."

"Oh okay." Then he hung up. Key stared at his phone in disbelief.

Well that was an awkward way to start a morning.

As soon as Key turned around after locking the door to his house, he freaked out finding Jonghyun right behind him.

"Holy shit, Jjong! Don't scare me like that!"

Jonghyun continued to smile. "I told them already."

Key raised an eyebrow. "Told who? And about what?"

"Told my parents that I'm gay."

Key's eyes widened at the short boy in front of him. "YOU WERE SERIOUS?!" he shouted. Jonghyun simply nodded. Key sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose again.

"So...how did your parents take it?"

Jonghyun shrugged. "They said as long as I get to be married in the future and get grandchildren, I can be whoever I want to be."

Key narrowed his eyes at him in confusion. "And just how are you going to do that when you're gay? You know that in Korea, gay marriage isn't legal."

"No, but in America most parts allow it." Jonghyun answered thoughtfully as he started walking to school, gesturing Key to follow. The latter obediently walked beside him. "But what about children? Last time I checked, only women were able to produce children."

"There are some rare occasions of men getting pregnant."

"You are missing my point and the keyword is RARE, Jjong."

Jonghyun shrugged. "I'll adopt. Having a family doesn't need to have a required bloodline."

"......and you figured this all out in one morning?"

Jonghyun happily nodded as he skipped past Key. Key had to call out to him in order for the other to hear him. "Then how are you going to confess to Minho?!"

The happy student stopped skipping and turned to Key in a panicked look. "I....haven't thought about that yet."

Key had to facepalm himself over his stupid best friend.

"KEY! HELP ME!"

Key recognized that voice and grumbled as he passed by the boy's restroom. He reluctantly entered it and was glad he did, or else something worse could've happened to Jonghyun.

"YAH! YOU FUCKHOLES! GET OUT OF HERE BEFORE I START PMSING ON ALL OF YOU!" He hollered at the boys who huddled over a bruised Jonghyun. The boys ran off, scared of Key's wrath.

Key couldn't help but give Jonghyun a deadpanned look. "I'm guessing you told your whole class you're gay, huh?"

Jonghyun nodded his head and tears freely flowed form his eyes. "I was confessing....." Key's eyes widened in shock. "YOU WHAT?!" he yelled, causing the people outside the bathroom to run away, in fear of making the Almighty Key angry.

"I told Minho I like him and I didn't get to hear his response because the guys were already dragging me over here and beating me up..." he babbled, tears now going down his face.

Key looked at his solemnly and bent down to hug him. "It's okay....shhhh....I got you....."

When Key saw Minho later that day after Jonghyun got picked up from school by his dad, it was at the principal's office.

He arrived there because he wanted to report the boys who beated up Jonghyun, but it seems Minho already beaten him to it. The boys got 3 weeks detention while Minho only got 1 week for beating them up in the gym during their soccer game.

Key decided to follow Minho and see if he's good enough for his best friend. After all, no one gets to date his best friend or even talk to him unless Almighty Key approves.

He followed him to the hallways of the school and watched him carefully and quietly so that he couldn't be seen. Minho opened his locker and fixed his stuff before going to detention. Key didn't miss the music notebook that Minho stuffed in his bag before closing his locker.

"Jonghyun, you have a visitor."

Jonghyun & Key looked up from the television screen. They were playing a video game at Jonghyun's house to calm down Jonghyun's nerves. Jonghyun looked up at his mother quizzically.

"What's his name?"

Before his mother could answer, a sudden melody rang out from downstairs.

Key had a hint about who it could be but didn't tell Jonghyun and had this smirk on his face, watching his friend's expression hearing the piano being played. Jonghyun ran downstairs and into his music room, where he found Minho playing and gasped. Once Minho was done reading off his notebook while playing, he slowly turned and smiled at Jonghyun.

"This is just something I've been writing for a while, and I....thought of coming over here to give you the composition." Minho explained and smiled softly at him. "Did you like it - "

Jonghyun's father walked in on his own son kissing the hell out of a taller boy and immediately spun out of the room. Key couldn't help but start laughing as he heard Jonghyun's mother already babbling to her husband about planning a wedding for their son.

"Yah, Choi Minho." Minho reluctantly pulled Jonghyun away to look at Key. "What's the title of your composition?"

Jonghyun, with filled curiosity, turned to read the notebook, only to laugh at the title and kiss Minho some more.

The title of the composition Minho wrote was called "Coming Out".

this is really lovely - i love the way you took the theme of coming out and used it throughout the story. i like the way jonghyun is so faily here, i could definitely see him being the sort of person to do this, sob, the dork. i also like how subtle minho's own 'coming out' is but still, it's adorable. thank you so much for this♥!! this was such a nice surprise!
