Baby Blues.

Blue eyes caught his gaze, more spectacular and bright than the sky on a clear summer day. He stared at the baby; a cup of coffee held in each hand, and the baby stared up at him from his crib. It had creamy white skin and flushed cheeks. Nearly white hair fluffed at the top of his head and he sucked on the rattle in his pudgy little hands. There was a moment, Kyujong was sure that the baby felt it too, where they both looked at each other in complete surprise, sizing each other up. Then Kyujong smiled, and wrinkled his nose, and the baby broke into the kind of smile only a baby can give—pure, untainted, and innocent. He felt an odd tugging on the center of his chest, as though he were being propelled forward even while his feet remained anchored to the ground. He felt like he were sinking under shifting sands of a sinkhole the moment he broke contact with the bright blue eyes of the infant. He was going to fall right through the floor in some invisible wormhole in a coffee shop and no one was going to notice but the baby, who was still giggling around the rattle in his mouth. His throat constricted even though all he wanted to do was open his mouth and scream help me at the top of his lungs, even though doing so would cause him to drown from sand. Then a hand touched his shoulder, bringing him back to reality with a snap. The vision disappeared in one fell swoop. Then Hyunjoong’s laughter rang in his ears. “What’s the matter? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” His leader’s smile pulled his cheeks up in a way that almost mimicked the baby’s. “It’s nothing,” he said, handing him his coffee and shouldering his way out of the doorway. It was a small signal, playing at the back of his mind. It stuck itself there with super glue and refused to leave him. A child, his mind told him. Hyunjoong would want a child, too. He smiled at himself cynically and twisted his fingers through Hyunjoong’s for a brief moment before letting go because they were in public, and it wouldn’t be right. “You’re like a kid,” he told Hyunjoong when he gave him a bemused glance. “I know.” A cocky smile greeted him like a blow to the back of the head. Hyunjoong would be a devilish father. |

At first I was wondering what he was so scared about, because that baby's CUTE, but then it was like...oh, HyunJoong...that makes sense =( /clings to him
And I'd be scared for any child HyunJoong had LOL

it's short, simple and sweet. I love how you wrote this fic. The subtlety is beautiful.
